For most drivers it was the second round of the F2 season, for a couple of others it was BIG F1 TIME! Otherwise known as that time of the year when the F1 teams have to put a rookie driver in for a practice session. The lucky chosen were Dino Beganovic driving for Ferrari and Luke Browning driving for Williams. I’m sure fellow Williams Academy driver Victor Martins didn’t jealously watch on from the side at all. Although not driving in F1, Sebastián Montoya was also celebrating this weekend as he turned 20 years old. He apparently got a new livery for his birthday and was so excited to use it he put it on straight away for free practice and didn’t take it off all weekend…
Bahrain
Stress.
Japan
Verstappen was fast
Norris drove on the grass
No one could pass
Stroll came last.
(So sorry Lance)
It’s the sort of a new F2 season and it really does feel new, with many of last year’s faces moving onto bigger and better F1 things. If you’re feeling unsure about who everyone is and who to support, just check this handy chart…
Does endurance racing seem overwhelming? Don’t worry, there’s an easy way to watch…
F1 has reached that important and often-celebrated milestone of 75 years old and just as 50 years is celebrated with gold and 70 with platinum, 75 is commonly marked by a two-hour long extravaganza promising that “fans will be on the edge of their seats”. There’s a lot of things in the racing world that typically keep people on the edge of their seats, such as overtaking, high-speed corners and bitchy radio messages, but F1 decided to opt for people looking awkward, lights, more lights, bad sound quality, and a little car-carrying platform that slid about the stage going up and down and doing the occasional rotation. Ooooooo, I’m on the edge of my seat…
If you can’t remember anything or anyone from F2 2024 because it’s been soooooo long since the last race, then not to worry because everyone has swapped about anyway. Just think of it as a new mini championship where some of the drivers get to start with 160+ points. Those drivers being Gabriel Bortoleto, who has already signed for Sauber in F1 next year, and Isack Hadjar, who is in a classic Red Bull driver scramble where whether you get an F1 seat or not is entirely dependent on the mood of the day, so you decide who is more desperate to win the title…
Qatar
Max is supposed to start first.
Max doesn’t start first.
It doesn’t matter. First corner, Max is first.
Fernando hates his car.
Lewis hates his car.
Williams hate F1.
Wing mirror on track!
Wing mirror still on track!
