F2 Great Britain 2025

F2 Great Britain 2025

F2 arrived in Great Britain, to a track that you know will deliver great racing yet somehow still always manages to produce something unexpected. Also finally a track that John Bennett has actually driven before and I’ve just discovered that someone writes full race reviews for him on his website; I haven’t been so happy since 2019 and Ralph Boschung’s dual-language race blog. In other news, Arvid Lindblad was getting his first FP1 outing in the Red Bull on Friday, which he was apparently excited about, although maybe not as excited as me when I discover an F2 driver actually updates their website regularly…

F2 Spain 2025

F2 moved on from the processional track of Monaco to the definitely never processional track of Barcelona (if you read this in an upbeat and positive tone please go back and reread in a more sarcastic tone)…

F2 Imola 2025

Illustration of F2 qualifying at Imola with Verschoor choosing to go the right way (aka on the track), while Goethe takes a more scenic and gravelly route, also known as "not the right way".

All the teams and drivers turned up to race in Imola as normal and everyone pretended that was indeed normal, despite Hitech’s team director William Oakes being arrested and charged with “transferring criminal property” after being caught hanging out with “a large amount of cash.” Just another day in the life of the F2 circus, I guess…?

F2 Bahrain 2025

For most drivers it was the second round of the F2 season, for a couple of others it was BIG F1 TIME! Otherwise known as that time of the year when the F1 teams have to put a rookie driver in for a practice session. The lucky chosen were Dino Beganovic driving for Ferrari and Luke Browning driving for Williams. I’m sure fellow Williams Academy driver Victor Martins didn’t jealously watch on from the side at all. Although not driving in F1, Sebastián Montoya was also celebrating this weekend as he turned 20 years old. He apparently got a new livery for his birthday and was so excited to use it he put it on straight away for free practice and didn’t take it off all weekend…

F2 Qatar 2024

F2 Qatar 2024

If you can’t remember anything or anyone from F2 2024 because it’s been soooooo long since the last race, then not to worry because everyone has swapped about anyway. Just think of it as a new mini championship where some of the drivers get to start with 160+ points. Those drivers being Gabriel Bortoleto, who has already signed for Sauber in F1 next year, and Isack Hadjar, who is in a classic Red Bull driver scramble where whether you get an F1 seat or not is entirely dependent on the mood of the day, so you decide who is more desperate to win the title…

F2 Italy 2024

F2 Italy 2024

The F2 drama rollercoaster was rolling even before the weekend begun, with Franco Colapinto the latest driver to be plucked out of F2 by the big F1 hand of the racing gods. Colapinto was to replace Logan Sargeant who displeased the big F1 hands of the racing gods (I guess this is how I have to refer to James Vowles from now on?) and was therefore out. Poor Logan. Probably feeling equally miserable was Colapinto’s fellow Williams Driver Academy member Zak O’Sullivan who remains firmly not an F1 driver. Meanwhile, the whole of Argentina rejoiced…
